Katie may have been born in Texas, but she's a Jersey girl through and through. From a very young age, she knew she wanted to be an actress. Like other kids, she went through years where she wanted to be other things, a lawyer (and an actress), a taekwondo instructor (and an actress), an astronaut (and an actress). The only thing that stayed the same was her desire to perform. Eventually, she realized that she didn't want to actual *be* all those other things - she just wanted the chance to play them.
As Katie's mother is also an actress, she not only always had her family's support for her creative pursuits, but she has always known just how hard it is to actually work in show business. Watching her mom endure the ups and downs of an acting career just proved she had the determination, passion and absolute insanity to perform for a living. Long nights of rehearsal, long days on set, and hours spent on lines waiting to audition have all just been part of the package. As long as the payoff is getting to perform in front of someone, be it a couple of people in an audition room or a theater filled with people, she considers all of it to be a win.
One of her favorite aspects of the industry didn't really enter her life until college. Katie has a love of stage combat and stuntwork, which she learned first under the tutelage of Fight Master Ian Rose while she studied at Arcadia University, and has studied with many other brilliant fight directors, stunt coordinators and other performers since. She is currently working at adding new weapons disciplines and different stunt skills to her repertoire while she works as a teaching assistant at NYFA, and continues to earn work as a stunt coordinator, fight director, and performer.
Katie's studies of the performing arts have taken her to Arcadia in PA, Rutgers (where she earned her degree) in NJ, New York City, and across the pond to London to study Shakespeare at RADA. She hopes to continue letting her love of performing take her all over the world - travel is awesome.
